The concept

After an award-winning rebrand of their signature Sparkling Mead, Hive Mind returned to Kingdom & Sparrow for our design expertise with their brand extension – an exciting new range of Honey Spirits, starting with a Spiced Honey Rum.

The Design

The packaging design for the new spirits range expands on the lino-cut style from the Sparkling Mead cans but with new hexagons, individually drawn to represent the flavour profile of the rum. We opted for a tonal palette of reds and oranges that speaks to the sweet honey, unique blend of spices and warm rum undertones. 

 

Emphasising the premium nature of the liquid, we used gold foil for the bee icon and the Hive Mind logo which contrasts against the black background. This is replicated on the neck label. On the back label, we made a feature of the barcode by introducing a unique beehive shape that reflects the fun, crafted nature of the Hive Mind brand.

The Impact

The Spiced Honey Rum has been well received by Hive Mind customers and rum drinkers alike, and we’ve already done some initial colour exploration around upcoming products within the spirits range so watch this space!
